Duct Tape Marketing: A Twitter Sharing Time Saving Tip

  • bradfordshimp · 2 months ago
Yes, this makes sharing interesting articles much easier. I do a similar thing, except I use FriendFeed. When I share a post from Google Reader, it goes to FriendFeed, and from there it publishes to Twitter. Something to consider if you use both services.

Thanks Brad, yes there are probably a dozen ways to do something like I've described - that's why I love RSS, so many ways to bend it to your will :)

Nice tip! I've always steered away from automated feeds but this is a great, easy way to share relevant articles on the go. You could also set it up for a specific Delicious tag RSS feed but, like you, I take advantage of down time on the go to browse through my Google Reader and hitting share is much faster and easier than any other sharing function.

I agree about the automated, this is really different as it's still hand picked and eye balled stuff, just automating the getting it where I want it.

An alternative is to use TwitterFeed to pick up the Google Shared articles, and then push them onto Ping.fm, which then distributes them to Twitter, Facebook etc as required.

It's the same method, but Ping.fm supports more services than TwitterFeed, so gives a bit more flexibility.

Lots of ways to skin this cat, thanks for sharing another one.

The blending of these tools along with SEO is the direction of marketing going forward. Thanks for the great material.

Totally agree about the integrated approach - you've got be everywhere now in order to be found by those looking. It's too easy for the rest to block out your broadcasts.

I have been trying to figure out a use for the Share It option in Google Reader ever since I started using the Reader.

Thanks for a great tip. Also the other commenters for the additional solid information. If Cash flow is king, efficiency is certainly a trusted advisor.

This is a great tool that businesses can use to keep up with and share industry information and the latest and greatest. Another tool that is helpful is hootsuite which allows you to schedule the more basic tweets ahead of time. Of course you could go one step further and hire a marketing assistant to do the hard work for you.

We like to use Twitterfeed to auto publish blogs and news feed that we read regularly. I do spend quite a bit of time editing it though. I add or delete items daily. I'm also a fan of Google Feed Reader, but hadn't used it to share my links before. Great idea! I will start doing that too.
