I use TweetDeck to post in twitter. I have linked my facebook account to post in Facebook when I post in twitter. If I tag someone in Twitter will it send an invalid message to Facebook (since the tag will more than likely be different)?

My guess is you couldn't do this as you suspected because of the difference in systems - it's pretty simple to test however.

I just noticed this feature this morning. Thanks for pointing out how to put it to good use!

Thanks John. I think this means I have to focus some more attention on Facebook; it's becoming more relevant as a business social media tool.

I like that the feature is similar to Twitter. That way we don't have to learn a new sytnax. I hope this trend continues that social networks try to use similar features that they see are popular. The easier they can make it on users to learn how to use all of the features, the more popular a network will be.

    Thanks for the valuable information!

    Bob -

I'm really interested about what this does for business purposes as well.

Before the feature came out, I was wondering if Facebook would limit the features for business pages or groups, but it looks like they didn't. Simply put, what it's done is it's offered virality "one step out".... by having people tag your (or...your business) without having to be on that page, you're creating a direct link between their contacts and your profile/page/etc.

I put up a short summary of how wall posting works with the new feature: bit.ly/STbTv if anyone finds it helpful (or has other insights!).

It would be way better if they only displayed the first name in the status messages (or at least gave you the option). Who wants to say "Heading to the park with Maria Sanchez-Gonzales" when they can simply say "Heading to the park with Maria" and have just her first name act as the link to her profile? It's so much more conversational...
