Duct Tape Marketing: Finally a solution for blog comment spam

  • Lars H · 2 years ago
    Askimet is awesome.

I combine it with a setting where any comment that has 1 or more links in it automatically goes into moderation, and that pretty much prevents any spam from ever appearing on my blogs.

That Romanian must know a lot of robots, because that's where most of my spam comes from!

I know, but I got such a good laugh from the message I just had to share it.

Yeah I got this comment too! I have been getting tons of spam over this summer.. akismet doesn't block it all. I imagine having a captcha helps quite a bit though.

Oh that's funny! I love that he hangs out with spammers and he'll tell them to stop...

I use Spam Karma and I've never had any problems with spam at all.

Yep. I got this one yesterday too. I thought it was extremely cheeky.

Funny, it's the second one like this I've received lately. The first was a request by a spammer asking my permission to post spam on my blog of all things.

Where have I seen this type of tactic before - the mafia, neighborhood gangs - now the blogoshpere!

If you pay me, I won't bust your legs!

I received this exact blog comment also. Ironically, I flagged it as spam.

I use Akismet for Wordpress along with manual approvals and it works wonderfully.
