Duct Tape Marketing: Get Your Google Alerts via RSS

  • Brett Tilford · 1 year ago
I've been using google alerts for a few days now and overall I really like it. I track my company name "Nectar" and a handful of times it's alerted me to instances of people talking about us or even asking me a question on some blog I commented on, very cool.

This is a great addition ... I've been getting blog search updates via RSS for some time, but this broadens the span of mentions for any given term.

I realize this might be a small enhancement for some, but for me this is easily the biggest enhancement they have done in a while.

I've been using alerts for some time, while they are great for both marketing and support (if someone is frustrated and does a blog post it seems to me you should help them out). But, I've ended up with a ton of them. And they were really starting to drive me crazy popping into my inbox. Now I can stick all of them in a folder within Google Reader. So much easier to deal with.

Google Alerts is one of my favorite tools, I have been using it to not only track certain words and topics but I also use in along side Google Reader. It is helpful when blogging because it can help you be on top of new stuff in your niche.

I've been using google alerts for about 4 months. It is probably the most effective method I've found to target new information in a specific area or field. This new upgrade makes google alerts even more valuable.

Awesome! Isn't the power of Social Media today so amazing? If you really sit spend the time thinking about how powerful today's tools really are, you can easily overwhelm yourself with the joy. Why, because there is so much opportunity knocking at our doors right now! This is a perfect example of something that only a few years ago would have taken hours of resources to share info that now takes minutes. I didn't know about the facebook or the twitterfeed capability so now I have to make time to implement both of these today. Thanks for the lesson John!

I am so excited about this new feature! Google Alerts has been really great for keeping track of my brands as well as brands I am inspiring to mirror. I have to admit I miss some of the emails so adding them to my iGoogle page will be a huge help for me!

I've never seen the Feedheads application before. This is a great addition to Google Alerts, which always comes in handy on a daily basis. Ah, Google, you hurt so good.
    Thanks, John.

I have to admit that I too am a massive fan of Google Alerts, the Internet is a place of fast paced information and it's not always easy to kep up, Google Alerts gives you the chance to keep abreast of changing situations and new advances in the fields you're interested in

I think it is very important to keep communications between the client and the seller. I think that Google Alerts will be precisely this point and will increase contact between people. Thank you very much!

Totally agree. I often use Google Alerts as it gives you a great opportunity to surf the needed names and phrases online. That is why I am really glad for this upgrade. It will be very convenient to get all the information to our Google Reader page.
