Duct Tape Marketing: LinkedIn Joins the Application Craze

This is certainly a great idea -- I only wish it would have worked for me. I tried to add the WordPress application to no avail. It will be interesting to see what they add in the rounds to come.

I couldn't get a few of the LinkedIn apps working, but the Wordpress App worked for me on my profile http://www.linkedin.com/in/cgoward

A contact at LinkedIn's ad agency told me that LinkedIn has a pretty aggressive development plan so I'm looking forward to seeing more of this from them.

I already took advantage of this by adding my Wordpress blog to my profile :-)

Using social networks like linkedIn hoping to make direct profits may not work out as many would expect. I think that you really have to be realistic about making money on these sites. A vast majority of these newer widgets link peoples profiles to places like amazon. etc...making money from these sites, in my opinion, is more of a main stream effort. in other words these social sites should be used to organize and muster business contacts as the need arises

LinkedIn's Amazon app is just a big cash flow ploy. Smart for them, crummy for us users.

Each link is an affiliate link for LinkedIn. Note the linked-20 in the URL.
I asked LinkedIn if users would be given the opportunity to post their own affiliate links. They said no.
Interestingly, they didn't admit to me that they were Amazon affiliates either.
