    I couldn't agree with John more! This is very sound advice. I would like to emphasize one thing....you need to do all of this within the context of an overall marketing plan which really needs to be an integral part of a business plan. If you spend enough time planning it out, then this advice is really good for executing the plan.

    Now is the perfect time to get your thoughts together and do as John advises.

    Making marketing a habit is much easier when you adjust your attitude. I firmly believe success begins with your attitude. With an attitude that you will work your plan to succeed, you then come to rely much more heavily on your marketing plan, which makes it habit.

    I was just about to post my new year's resolutions on my blog, and this was definitely one of them. When I started out as a freelance copywriter in August, I did marketing most of the time. Now I write most of the time, but I need to find a way to keep marketing. Thanks for the reminder.

    Funny you say that for marketing - live by the calendar. I keep a business diary that helps 'keep me regular' with mailing to lists, etc. It is the most important function of a business.. communicating your offers on a regular, scheduled basis. Your character grows as your habits develop for the 'better.' Thanks for a great blog John.

    Marketing is definitely a habit and most importantly-it's a process. It takes time. Take it one step at a time and work up from there!
