It's a monthly publication I started in May 2005.
www.bfpnewsonline.com

Re: Small Business Newspapers Growing in Popularity

Worked for a larger newspaper for many - many years, owned by big companies that were only interested in the bottom-line and did a great job of forgetting the "mom & pop" businesses. Started my own community newspaper a little more than 2 years ago with a simple mission - cater to the "mom & pop" advertisers and communicate only good news content! Next month my second community publication will be out on the streets.

Re: Small Business Newspapers Growing in Popularity

There's a controlled circulation (meaning free) magazine in New York called The New York Enterprise Report.

http://www.nyreport.com

Jodi

P.S. These publications really do great work providing information and opportunities for the 5-10 person firm or even the independent salesperson.

Re: Small Business Newspapers Growing in Popularity

John:

My first thought when reading this was to share a list I have of all the Business Journal's in the USA with the contact info for each markets publisher and editor but then I read the comments here.

I'd have to agree with you that the Biz Journals, while great publications, seem to cater more to larger businesses and at least in my area they slant heavy to real estate.

What would you consider a "small business" in relation to this post? One with under 100 employees? Under __ $ in annual revenue?

Just curious what target you are seeing these local biz papers being successful with.

Thanks.

Re: Small Business Newspapers Growing in Popularity

Tim, I agree. Why does Philadelphia seem so lacking for small business? Maybe we should start one :-)

Re: Small Business Newspapers Growing in Popularity

I'd be interested in knowing if there is a small business periodical for the Philadelphia, PA region.

Re: Small Business Newspapers Growing in Popularity

Andrew,

I don't really consider these small business publications per se. The Business Journals are great but they don't give small business any real exposure.

Re: Small Business Newspapers Growing in Popularity

I believe that the biggest U.S. publisher of Business journals is American City Business Journals. They have a web site at http://www.bizjournals.com and are in several dozen major U.S. markets. You can find an interactive map with circulation and other data via http://www.citybiznetwork.c...

Re: Small Business Newspapers Growing in Popularity

Here's our local businees journal.
http://www.charlestonbusine...

Re: Small Business Newspapers Growing in Popularity

Hi John,
Good to hear that, more local marketing for us.

Vijay
