A higher ranking means that your page will be listed higher on the search pages, increasing the chances of someone clicking on the links to your page.

Re: The three step search engine optimization plan

For your keyword research try using KeywordSpy - a keyword research technology that will help you know what keywords your competitors are using and how it generates money for them, you can use those keywords to drive traffic to your site and give your business the exposure it needs. It offers Free trials.

It goes with a ClickBank Affiliates Search Engine where you can see the actual market landscape at ClickBank.

Re: The three step search engine optimization plan

As someone who does run a small business website, there is a little bit more involved. We received the biggest bump in traffic by site structure changes and use of nofollow tags to pages that were unimportant to search engines. And Wordtracker doesn't work for some industries, especially those that are relatively new online. We sell window and door parts online. Wordtracker was basically a waste when compared to our own stats.

Re: The three step search engine optimization plan

It's ironic that you introduce the post by saying that most SEO information is garbage but then pass off your 2nd and 3rd tips as being helpful (your 1st tip is good). Of course you need to create relevant content. Of course you need to find ways to get links back to you. Neither of these are news flashes. To win a basketball game, you need to score more points than the other team, too. Everybody knows that but we need to know *how* to do that. Give us something we can implement now!
